Hand painted Mulberry Silk: Motifs of the Alpona art
Hand painted Mulberry Silk: Motifs of the Alpona art
Fabric: 3-ply handwoven Mulberry Silk
Work: We begin by sketching the motifs on the saree using a pencil. Then, each design is carefully hand-painted, after which the saree is steamed to set the colors. There is a brush stroke shading affect through out the body. We have used sangria tones paired with a golden yellow as the colour palette of this saree.
Length: 5.5 meters + 1 meter blouse piece
Width: Approximately 47 inches
Blouse Piece: Yes, a 1-meter blouse piece in sangria tone, the same color as the border.
Disclaimer: As each saree is entirely handmade, slight irregularities may occur—this is part of the charm of owning something crafted with love and care. Please note that colors may vary slightly from what you see in the picture. For longevity, we recommend dry cleaning.
This saree is a breathtaking fusion of hand-painted artistry, this particular piece is inspired by the bengali Alpona art. Our hand-painted sarees are a unique creation, often available in a single piece. In rare instances, we may create a second piece, but each saree will feature a different design combination, making each one truly exclusive.
We weave the fabric ourselves, ensuring the highest quality at every step. From the initial design sketches to the final finished saree, our talented women artisan team does every aspect of the process by hand. The result? A one-of-a-kind handcrafted masterpiece that only you will own.
